Haha...
I had promised a review of Havoks'
No Sun
Some time ago...
No, I have the an even better article to write about...
A Review of Havoks' live performance...
Here goes..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First of all,
What to say?
I don't really need to spell it out,
but...
Disappointment.
Well,
not to fret.
For the fact that I'm disappointed,
means that I had a high opinion of the
band to begin with...
But first of all,
Let me spell out what was wrong:
(in order of severity)
Overall impression..
ACOUSTICS!!!
Well,
what can I say?
For a band named Havok,
their styling really clash...
(need stylist lah)
The only person who really looked like
a havoc (forgive the pun) rocker was Li En.
That's bad maan...
The rest of them all looked like a bloody clean
Sunday school all boys choir...
Their clothings mildly reminded of the beach boys...
Haha...
I half expected them to throw down their sticks/guitars/synthesiser
and start hugging each other singing...
"Everybody's Gone Suuuuuurfin', Surfin USA"...
Wahahaha, Ya lar...
That's right.
That's what I thought.
Check shirts/Hawaiian print shirts(or something reminiscent)
/polo shirts....
What the hell?
Thought this is supposed to be Nu-metal rock band?
Duuuuh...
Plain black T-shirts would do much better...
At least, Dark coloured T-shirts lah...
Brightly coloured shirts?
Ha ha..
Imagine Linking Park (who I think the band is trying to emulate)
Wearing red shirts and started singing Crawling...
Hmmm....
As the saying goes...
"Clothes Maketh the man"
"The Clothes will destroy the band"
(ha ha, came up with the second one myself)
Dress for the right occasion lah...
Look the part, feel the part,
Groove to the part.
The audience will also feel you.
Thus making your performance more of a success.
Also, the placing of the band members...
Jialat sia....
The two guitarist,
hiding in the corner...
What sia...
Then the rest of the band all hiding on the other side of the stage...
Apart from Li En,
all were lagi stone...
NO STAGE PRESENCE!!!
Only Li En was moving about,
J&J...
Hmm...
Stand there strumming, strumming...
Hmm...
must be felt what...
At least,
Don't stand straight and concentrate on strumming lah..
Move about abit lah...
At least must drama abit what...
(some attempt made at the start of degrade.)
But apart from slight hops...
Zip.
Nothing else happened..
Then
Drums..
Whoa, Daniel...
The way he drum..
Remind me of little drummer boy...
Haha....
Soooo cuuuuute....
I know, I know,
Military band and all that...
classical trained...
But your in a rock band maaan...
dude try not to be subtle in your movements...
Again, drama won't hurt...
Exaggerate your movements abit.
Captivate the audience.
It's really cool to see all the rock bands out there,
where their drummers have highly exaggerated movements..
It's captivating maan..
looking at them moving so quickly,
hitting all the right notes...
Again. All hiding in the corner.
Got No stage presence...
Drums should move in front abit lah...
Guitarist move more o the centre...
Don't let the amplifier overshadow you...
Haha....
I feeling kinda sleepy lah...
Bad grammer/spelling...
Sentences not coherent also...
Shit..
Tomorrow I write a more comprehensive and coherent review lah...
Crap....
